Hello Fam,

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of Alpha Dune.

We are launching Alpha Dune — the new home of the Stater, Houndrace and Alpha Dune Community.🥁

Alpha Dune brings together people and ideas from both our Stater and Houndrace communities.

We started Alpha Dune because we wanted to integrate the entire ecosystem of projects inside the same governance and community umbrella.

With the official launch we would like to invite you to take a look at the current state of Alpha Dune.

Check it below👀

An Overview of Alpha Dune Governance Hub

The Alpha Dune has launched and one of its core features is the ability for Dune holders to collectively govern all the projects from our ecosystem.

Dune holders can submit proposals and vote for global changes that will have an impact on the entire ecosystem.

The following article will cover the governance procedure on Alpa Dune and introduce our governance tool that allows any Dune holder to participate in the governance mechanism.

Members have at their disposal the governance pools from our entire ecosystem that are allocated for governance proposals.

Alpha Dune Community Change

Starting from this week, our ecosystem will be under one big family and discord community. The current Houndrace discord server will have a fresh new name change to “Alpha Dune (Houndrace & Stater Hub)” and the more valuable channels from Stater Discord will be integrated into Alpha Dune server.

The Stater Discord & Telegram channels will be deprecated and no longer in use. We will post an announcement on both for clarification and to invite people in the new server.

The change will take place until Friday 22.jul.2022 at 20:00 PM CET.

Alpha Dune DAO

The Alpha Governance Proposal process will allow Alpha Dune DAO members to make decisions and shape the future of our ecosystem by using the Governance Fund allocations from each project to build new set of features that will impact the development of our projects across all areas.

How to become a member?

The only requirement for membership in the DAO is to hold DUNE tokens.

The Proposal Procedure

In the Alpha Dune governance implementation anyone can submit a proposal to the system. There are four main categories an ADP (Alpha Dune Proposal) can fall under.

There are four main categories an ADP can fall under: Core, Process, Informational and Ecosystem Fund Allocation.

Core Proposals — Proposals for making decisions on technical product features, design improvements or partnerships.

Core proposals have two main subcategories:

  • Product Development — Everything related to a technical implementation fall here: Feature development, smart contract, UI/UX improvement.
  • Brand Decisions — Proposals related to partnerships, contests and other brand decisions.

Process Proposals — Proposals for making a change to a process or implementation. Examples include procedures, guidelines, changes to the decision-making process, and changes to the tools or environment of the DAO.

Informational Proposals — Proposals for general guidelines or information for the community.

Ecosystem Fund Allocation — Proposals for how DAO funds should be utilised.

Find a proposal template here.

Let’s have a look at the Proposal Steps!

The Proposal Procedure Step-by-Step

Phase 1: ADP Idea

An ADP idea is created as a post in our forums and must be approved by one of our moderators. The party submitting the ADP idea will be referred to as the Initiator or Initiators. The ADP idea informally gathers comments in the forum thread for 14 days. Learn more here.

Phase 2: ADP Draft

After the 14 days feedback window has passed and the moderator closes the topic, one of our moderators will send the initiator the proposal template and the next steps for submission and voting.

Learn more here.

Phase 3: ADP Review

The ADP is reviewed by a project manager from our team that is engaged with the Alpha Dune DAO who will provide a report that will breakdown and review the costs, implementation steps, legal considerations, potential conflicts of interests and any further implications that have been identified.

The ADP Draft is reviewed by a team of moderators and either approved or not approved based on wether it adheres to the guidelines.

Phase 4: Pending ADP

Pending ADPs that have passed ADP Review are tagged as “Ready for Vote”.

The “Ready to Vote” tag is given to a pending ADP whose costs, content, and implications are considered straightforward and of no risk to the well-being of the DAO.

Phase 5: Live ADP

Pending ADPs that have passed their respective approval processes will become Live ADPs on Snapshot during the next Weekly ADP Release, which is when new ADPs are released in batched.

Phase 6: ADP Vote

The ADP will be available in Snapshot for community voting. All Alpha Dune token holders will be able to participate in the voting process.

Phase 7: ADP Implementation

For accepted ADPs that passed the voting phase, implementation will begin based on the steps outlined in the ADP template.

Learn more about Proposal Conflicts here.

The Alpha Dune Voting Process

Alpha Dune DAO’s consensus mechanism aims to make placing votes fair, transparent, and low-cost, so that Alpha Dune holders can participate in the decision-making of the DAO.

Voting Mechanism

Let’s see why Snapshot will be the main voting tool:

  • doesn’t require gas payment.
  • ensures transparency.
  • expands governance participation to all holders of Alpha Dune.

Learn more about the Voting Process here.

Dune Token Allocation

The total supply of DUNE tokens is permanently fixed at 1 billion tokens. No minting capability is exposed through the contract interface, thus the total supply will never increase. Similarly, the contract interface does not expose any token burning capability, so the total supply will never decrease.

Token Symbol: DUNE

Decimals: 18

DUNE Tokens Distribution

60% Community Fund — Tokens allocated for governance proposals and implementation.
